Pat Benatar RIAA Platinum Record Award
In The Heat Of The Night
Another amazing piece of rock-n-roll history. This is an authentic RIAA award for Pat's very first album. The award plaque states:
Presented to Art Keith to commemorate the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of the Chrysalis Records long playing record album 'IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT'
This was Pat's first 1,000,000 sales achievment, and a great award to have in any collection. Awards like these will continue to be a great investment for the collector. It's already over 30 years old.
This is a 'Floater' style award, which was only made for a short time until 1980-81, when the RIAA changed the format. It's called a floater because the mini LP cover underneath the Gold Record appears to be floating to the left of the plaque.
I would rate the condition of this award to be a 9-10 based on what I've seen. The back has never been opened. The manufacturers sticker clean, bright and in tact.
Very cool, very unique, very collectible. I'm clearing out space and it's time to part with some of my prized possessions.
If you have any questions, please ask before purchasing. You should do your own research about authentic RIAA awards prior to purchasing to understand their construction, condition and who they were presented too. The best resource I have found is http://honormusicawards.com/history/
